My nephrostomy experience at hospital of Mumbai in India

Hi,

I am Zaara from Pakistan. I am here to share my experience of nephrostomy at hospital Mumbai in India. One of my ureters was blocked and the urine that is produced by the kidney cannot flow forward. I was very worried about the problem. I consulted my doctor; he told me that nephrostomy should be performed as soon as possible. But the medical infrastructure of Pakistan is not as good as other countries so he suggested INDIANHEALTHGURU, famous medical healthcare group in India. So I searched for their website and contacted Mr.Dheeraj Bojwani. He replied my mail within few days. He was so kind, and answered all my queries regarding the nephrostomy surgery at hospital of Mumbai in India. Health tourism is a developing concept whereby people from world over visit here for their medical and relaxation needs. Most common treatments are heart surgery, knee transplant, cosmetic surgery and dental care. The reason India is a favorable destination is because of its infrastructure and technology in which is in par with those in USA, UK and Europe. It has some of the best hospitals and treatment centers in the world with the best facilities. Since it is also one of the most favorable tourist destinations in the world, medication combines with tourism has come into effect, from which the concept of medical tourism is derived.

So I decide to fly for nephrostomy at hospitals of Mumbai in India. After traveling there I met my surgeon. He told me about the procedure. My procedure involved inserting a tube or a catheter through the skin inside the kidney to drain urine. Nephrostomy tube or catheter was kept patent by inserting a stent inside it. It can be temporary or permanent. It was a kind of ‘Interventional Radiology’ procedure. It is usually performed when one of the ureters is blocked and the urine that is produced by the kidney cannot flow forward. As a result the back pressure of accumulated urine can cause damage to the kidney tissue and result in kidney failure. It can also be performed to access the kidney stone in the upper part of renal pelvis, that way it can either be dissolved chemically or by Intracorporeal Shortwave Lithotripsy (ICSWL). If you have a stone in your ureter that is large and / or of abnormal shape like stag horn calculus in the renal pelvis which either needs to be dissolved chemically or by ICSWL, if you have a stricture in your ureter that hampers the passage of the stone thus causing complete blockage and back pressure on the kidney, if there is a retroperitoneal tumour that is pressing on the renal pelvis or ureter causing your ureter to kink, if you have a tumour of the renal pelvis that has been resected and needs local chemotherapy, then you are an ideal candidate for Nephrostomy. Medical tourism is providing nephrostomy at hospital of Mumbai in India to international patients.

My surgery went well. I am thankful to Dr. Dheeraj Bojwani.  As health care costs skyrocket, patients in the developed world are looking overseas for medical treatment. India is capitalizing on its low costs and highly trained doctors to appeal to these “medical tourists.” Even with airfare, the cost of going to India for surgery can be markedly cheaper, and the quality of services is often better than that found in the United States and UK. Indeed, many patients are pleased at the prospect of combining their surgeries. My trip for nephrostomy at hospital of Mumbai in India was great!!!!
